Jenny Quarles is the Director of Teaching and Learning Technology for the Virginia Community College System. Originally from New York, Jenny completed her undergraduate degree at Hunter College and her graduate work at Clark University in Worcester, MA. Although a education technology advocate, Jenny’s primary academic focus has been American Literature. However, Jenny has completed over 30 graduate course and certificates in distance learning, course design, curriculum design and pedagogy. Jenny has worked in higher education since 1999 and most recently comes from Longwood University where she served as Director of Distance Education and the Digital Education Collaborative.
The Virginia Community College System
Virginia’s General Assembly established the Virginia Community College System in 1966 to develop a new approach to providing educational opportunity and address a need for a comprehensive educational system. Today twenty-three Virginia community colleges on 40 campuses deliver quality higher education and workforce training throughout the state, with programs and courses to serve the distinct demands of every region and provide every Virginian the opportunity to gain an education.
