Cultural Competence is the basis of equitable and inclusive instruction. Using the flexibility of online instruction, due dates, and assessments, we can better meet the needs of diverse students. Yet while we recognize and respect cultural differences in the classroom, it’s often hard to know how to leverage those in a way that honors the student while helping them progress, both in our individual courses and in college generally. This one-hour session does an overview of what creates cultural competence and how to use specific tools to help a diverse student population find success in online learning.
