What is Zoom AI Companion?
Zoom AI Companion is an artificial intelligence tool integrated into the Zoom platform to enhance meeting productivity and efficiency. It offers several key features to assist faculty in teaching and administrative tasks.
Quick Start
Click on the AI Companion in the Tool Bar and START SUMMARY. After the meeting, you will get an email with the AI Companion Summary.
How to Enable Zoom AI Companion
- Log into your Zoom account at vccs.zoom.us
- Click SIGN IN (use your @email.vccs.edu credentials)
- Navigate to Settings in the left sidebar
- Click on the “AI Companion” tab
- Toggle on the features you wish to use (Meeting Summary, Smart Recording, In-Meeting Questions, Whiteboard Content Generation)
Key Features and Functions
- Meeting Summary: Automatically generates a summary of meeting discussions and action items (enabled)
- Smart Recording: Enhances cloud recordings with highlights, chapters, and summaries (must enable in settings)
- In-Meeting Questions: Allows host and participants to ask questions about meeting content without interrupting (must enable in settings)
- Whiteboard Content Generation: Assists in creating content for Zoom Whiteboards (enabled)
Privacy and Data Protection Guidelines
- AI Companion does not use meeting data to train AI models
- Summaries typically exclude last names to protect student privacy
- Review all AI-generated content before sharing to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
- Do not use AI Companion for meetings involving sensitive or confidential information
Best Practices for Faculty
- Inform students when AI Companion features are being used in class sessions
- Use Meeting Summary to create concise notes for student reference
- Leverage Smart Recording to enhance accessibility of lecture content (Must enable in settings)
- Encourage student engagement through the In-Meeting Questions feature (Must enable in settings)
- Utilize Whiteboard Content Generation for collaborative brainstorming sessions
